I don't know why, but every time I look at this necklace, I think of Bali Hai, the song from the movie South Pacific. (I guess I'm showing my age!;) But as a young girl, I LOVED Mitzi Gaynor...
Anyway, back to the necklace! I love the colors that appeared on this pendant. Yes, I spend lots of time layering, fireing, working towards the end piece, but ultimately, the copper decides what it will give me each time. And it was the perfect piece to be accented by the beauty of Aqua Chalcedony (kal-seh-duh-nee) It just breathes spring and summer and pairing it with flame painted copper makes it a wonderful transitional piece that can be worn year round.
I started with a copper sheet, hand cut the shape, form folded it to give it more interest, hammered it and then painted it with fire. I finished with a sealer and added this gorgeous stone.
It is a double chain, the longer chain is 18", the shorter is 16" and there is a 3" extension on the back, making it wearable to 21" and 19".
This is one of a kind!
